From our Directors

It's November, Zion Families!

Thanks to all who participated in yesterday's Trunk or Treat, we had a very fun time together and the costumes were awesome! This month we would ask you to watch the calendar carefully, because we have several special events, fundraisers, and days off as well!  It's a great time to be involved at Zion!

INVITATION FROM PASTOR PINGEL -  "How do I talk to my children about death?"... If this is a question you’ve ever pondered, join us at Zion this Sunday for our All Saints Celebration at 9am.  Pastor Pingel, our “campus pastor” and father of six boys, whose daughter died in infancy, will be addressing some of the common fears, concerns, & questions that children (and even adults) have when it comes to death, and how we may help put their minds at ease.  This special celebration will take place in the sanctuary from 9-10am, with fellowship, Sunday School, and an adult study of “The Reason for God” following at 10:15am in the Fellowship Center.

FAITH AND FAMILY NIGHT - For those looking for a less formal opportunity to worship in the evening, we will be holding our monthly Faith-N-Family Night this Sunday as well.  As always, dinner is provided, so bring the whole family.  The menu this month includes BBQ pulled pork, mac & cheese, coleslaw, etc.  Dinner starts at 5pm in the Fellowship Center.  At 5:30, the Band will start singing and leading us in song.  At 5:45, the kids will head downstairs to the KidZone for their own half-hour lesson & activity, while the adults “Peruse the Parables with Pastor Pingel,” focusing this month on The Parable of the Good Samaritan.  Come and see!

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD - You still have time to participate in filling a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child this year! Pick up a shoebox at the school office, and all shoeboxes will be collected by next Friday, November 8, OR at Zion's 9:00 church service on Sunday, November 10.

SCHOOL LUNCHES - We have decided to organize some hot lunch days this month! You should have received a hot lunch order form on Wednesday, and if you would like to order lunches on Wednesdays and Fridays in November, order and full payment must be received by Tuesday, Nov. 5! This is optional, of course, so if you choose to send the lunches from home that is just fine! It is extremely important that our students have nutrition throughout the day. With this in mind, we will be stocking our freezer with Uncrustables, and if any student is without a lunch we will provide a PB&J and fruit/vegetable as available. This is only an "emergency" option and your account will be billed $5/lunch for these lunches.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR - Our Scholastic Book Fair will be held in the foyer of the ZFC on November 18-22!  This is a great way to kick off some Christmas shopping, and we will be looking for volunteers to help work shifts at the book fair throughout the week!  Look for a Sign-up Genius soon so that you can help!

VENDOR FAIR - Speaking of Christmas shopping, we are preparing to host a vendor fair from 11 AM to 6 PM on Friday, November 22 (the last Friday before Thanksgiving break). If you or people you know would like to secure a table for sales that day, Jodi has a file started in the school office, and can even be contacted by phone.  Instead of a flat vendor fee, we are suggesting that vendors donate 10% of the one-day profits back to the school. Contact the school office if you'd like to help us advertise, as well!

THANKSGIVING CELEBRATION - On Friday, Nov. 22, the Learning Center will host a special "family Thanksgiving celebration" at 1:00 as part of our school day.  We would love parents, grandparents, or even friends to join us for a potluck-style "feast" followed by Thanksgiving games and crafts.  This should be a fun way to end our school day together as we head into the week-long Thanksgiving break!  Start thinking about any family recipes you'd like to share, and we'll get another Sign-up Genius out soon!

God bless your weekend, hope to see many of you on Sunday!
